Curious about plein air painting? It couldn’t be easier with us! We bring all the supplies, and handle setup and cleanup—you just bring your lunch. Relax, create, and enjoy a no-fuss day of painting outdoors.Come join us at the Palo Alto Baylands for a delightful day of plein air painting, where creativity meets the fresh open air! In this workshop we will work on how to look at a variety of subject choices and narrow it down to the strongest composition; how to interpret the landscape before you and fit it onto your canvas; how to utilize value, color, and shape to create a pleasing design; and how to utilize atmospheric perspective.
We’ll begin our morning with hot coffee and a warm welcome, followed by a 90-minute live demo from our instructor to spark your inspiration. With brushes in hand and nature as our muse, you’ll then enjoy 90 minutes of your own painting time. Around midday, we’ll pause for a relaxing 30-minute lunch break (don’t forget to pack your favorite sandwich!), before diving back into the joy of painting all afternoon. As the sun begins to dip, we’ll gather for a cozy 30-minute review session, complete with wine, cheese, and friendly feedback, to celebrate the art we’ve created and the beauty we’ve captured together.
Previous Oil Painting Experience Recommended.
