About this Event
Have you ever wanted to try watercolour painting 'en plein air' but not had the confidence? Now is your chance to give it a go alongside a group of people and supported by a tutor. Emily will help you with ideas on how to start and introduce you to different watercolour techniques that you can apply to your paintings. The session location is the rich and varied landscape of Preston Park which will provide plenty of inspiration for your paintings. You will build confidence and enjoy experimenting with this versatile medium in the great outdoors!
Suitable for anyone who wants to paint with watercolour outside.
Materials
Some watercolour paints and paper will be provided. However, you may want to invest in the following:
- Watercolour paints e.g. Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolour student tube set or a box (approx £15)
- Watercolour paper e.g. Cass Art 150-300g / Daler Rowney Aquafine watercolour jumbo pad 300gms (£12 - £20)
- Brushes x 2: one soft round size 8-10, one Daler Rowney Aquafine watercolour artist brush, size 6, 8 or 10, round (£3.50 each)
You will need to bring a sketch book and pencil, masking tape and kitchen towel.

Emily Jolley is a trained painter having gained a degree in Fine Art at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle . She has been running art classes and workshops for many years in Brighton, Portsmouth and Greece. Her work was selected in The Sunday Times watercolour competition to be shown at the Mall, London. Emily's practice is based at her studio in Phoenix Art Space.
