This free workshop is open to all ages as part of the Waukesha Art Crawl's Plein Air Competition. Come learn about plein air drawing and painting. Meet at Otto's Art Academy in Waukesha at 6pm, then we will head outside (weather permitting) to draw and paint from nature. No Experience Necessary. No entries to the competition required. This is simply a way to learn about plein air! Participants are invited back on Saturday, October 4 to attend the Waukesha Art Crawl's Plein Air Art Reception at Waukesha Civic Theatre.
What is Plein Air?
"Plein Air" is a French term for "on the open air". Many years ago, before cameras were invented, artists would take their canvases and painting supplies outside to create art from what they saw in real life. Today, we create Plein Air art in celebration of a traditional form of art, to spend time in nature, and to use our skills of observation.
