JC Parks and Jefferson City Art Club invite you to attend the third annual Jefferson City Plein Air Art Competition. The event will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at McClung indoor pavilion and select outdoor Jefferson City locations, where artists from near and far are invited to Jefferson City to paint scenic locations throughout the community and compete for cash prizes.The Plein Air art competition provides the Jefferson City community an art experience like no other. A reception will follow the event where art may be viewed and purchased.
*What is Plein Air?*
En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. Experience scenic Jefferson City through the canvas!
• Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
• Painting will be in the time: 6:00am – 4:00pm
• Reception: 5:30pm-7:00pm
Registration Deadline: September 18, 2025 (can register day-of/cash only)
Registration Fee: $50
