WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Using various tools based on improvisational tasks and set movement material, we will deconstruct and practice musicality and rhythm as a means of deepening our listening, sharpening our intuition and enriching the expressiveness and playfulness of our dance. We approach dance as a sensory experience transmitted through descriptions, tactile interactions as well as auditory and vocal impulses to experience creativity, freedom of movement and our personal dance style. We wake up our spirits to allow us to uninhibitedly share our dance and to receive inspiration and impulses that allow us to spontaneously create and compose together in real time. Elements of this practice are based on David Zambrano’s ‘Soul Project’ and on his composition method ‘Let’s Dance’.
uses dance as a tool to analyze our relationships to ourselves, to our environment and with each other - for new narratives and more self-reflection. Her work is influenced by her study of flying low, passing through and improvisation with David Zambrano and Horacio Macuacua. She is interested in musicality, rhythm, perception and modes of perception. Recently she has been researching possibilities to increase the accessibility of dance training and dance performances for blind people, aside from audio description.
and are , a collaborative duo that convenes multigenerational & cross-cultural communities of practice to support longevity in dance. As alloyed mettles, they curate, teach, create and perform. Their collaboration formed in response to a vacuum they experienced as 40+ year old women seeking to continue dancing dynamically. Their practice draws from their shared and individual histories in improvisation, partnering, and somatics across genres to grow their capacity to listen beyond the auditory realm. They embrace their differences in physique, dance training, personalities, and culture as alloyed strengths that support their drive for a resilient future, allowing them and their community to age as they dream together, in dance.
