Color theory. All artists and crafters know it’s important, but it sounds soooo boring! At Purple Crayon, we don’t think it has to be—and we’re determined to change your mind, too!
With instructor Kim Smith’s training as an art teacher, professional artist, and occasional stand-up comedian (not really, but she does know how to have a good time!), you’ll actually have FUN learning the basics of color theory—and you’ll notice a big improvement in your art, no matter your medium.
By the end of this informative, two-day course, you’ll be able to answer four simple, yet complex, questions: What is color? How do I mix it? Which colors go together? And how do I use color to impact my work? You’ll also gain the confidence you need to select and use color combinations that look balanced and appealing and create the viewer experience you want.
You’ll walk away with a beautiful, resource-filled art journal that you can use as a reference for years to come. It will contain your handmade tools, such as a color and value scale, and small abstract and multi-media art pieces that you’ll develop while learning and practicing different color schemes. Your journal is sure to become one of your most cherished tools for guiding your creative play, creating pleasing art and home decor, and finding the perfect shade for any and everything!
