PlatypusWatch Landholder Workshop
Every year, hundreds of Gold Coast volunteers brave the early mornings to survey platypus and collect valuable data on population dispersal. In order to provide a comprehensive overview of their presence, we need additional help from private property owners who boarder the waterways. We fear that platypus populations are in trouble and need to better understand where they are thriving and where they are not.
This workshop will teach you all about the unique platypus, how to survey them from your own property and about how the data you collect will be used. Morning tea will be provided and we will finish with a guided walk along the creek to observe prime platypus habitat.
PlatypusWatch surveying acts as an early warning system to populations in distress. Our increased surveying efforts will help to prevent another extinction event as was sadly witnessed in Tallebudgera Creek.
Get involved now and help to protect the Gold Coast's most treasured inhabitants.
