Platsens ljus / Ljusets plats is an essay in four parts, developed from two paintings by Titian, a poem by Anna Akhmatova, an essay by Inger Christensen, and Mark Rothko’s Chapel in Houston, Texas. The essay moves through specific locations such as Venice, St. Petersburg, Daugavpils, and New York.
Painting is approached as light and as a place. Aesthetic questions are intimately intertwined with existential and ethical reflections. Rather than explaining, the book explores the search for subject matter as a driving force behind the artist`s practices.
