Join us to hear and share stories about plants you know and pollinators you see at home and at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum.
Some points of conversation are:
• Flowering plants all have pollen but not all have nectar;
• Bees use both pollen and nectar;
• Ruby Throated Hummingbird facts and behaviors;
• Nectar plants preferred by pollinators;
• Host and nectar plants for 23 local butterflies.
Conversation will be hosted by Gail Napora, a Virginia Master Naturalist who has volunteered in educational events at the EJC Arboretum since 2007. A butterfly enthusiast, she has led the monarch tagging event for the Arboretum each year.

Monarch Tagging & Release

We invite participants of all ages! Join butterfly enthusiast and Virginia Master Naturalist Gail Napora for our Monarch Tagging and Release. Gail will journey with you through the life cycle of the butterfly with images, trace the route of migration from all points north to Mexico, then share the details of tagging as attendees help hold the butterflies and then release them.
