Thanks to a Grant from the Native Plant Society, High Country Audubon is having a Planting Day at Green Valley Community Park, in Todd, NC. We need lost of volunteers! When: Sunday, September 7th from 1-3pm.
Where: Green Valley Community Park, Todd, NC
What: We will be digging holes, planting shrubs and trees and then fencing them to protect them from deer.
Details: We will try to finish this in one day, but if not, we have a second day scheduled for Saturday morning, September 13th from 10-12.
For both days, bring shovels, gloves, close-toed shoes We will be partially pre-digging all the holes, so the planting should not be too strenuous.
Meet at the LOWER parking area -- canoe access off of Big Hill Road. The best way to get there with all the road closures is to take Hwy 194 north from Boone to Big Hill Road, and just stay on it until you see the canoe access.
With this planting, we will have come a long way toward restoring the park from the damage caused by Helene. We will have planted 880 plants by the end of this planting. Yay!!!!
