You're Invited to the 66th Annual Volunteer Firefighter BBQ – A Plantation Tradition!
The City of Plantation Fire Department is proud to invite the community to celebrate a beloved local tradition—the 66th Annual Volunteer Firefighter BBQ—on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Pine Island Park (Soccer Fields), 8200 S.W. 3rd Street, Plantation, FL.
What began as a grassroots effort by the original Plantation Volunteer Fire Department has grown into one of the most anticipated community events of the year. For over six decades, this event has served as a way to raise awareness, support our dedicated volunteer firefighters, and bring neighbors together in celebration of service, tradition, and family.
The day kicks off early as our firefighters fire up the smoker and begin slow-cooking tender slabs of ribs, juicy quartered chickens, and our now-famous pulled pork—prepared with a secret spice rub and smoked to perfection in a custom trailer smoker generously provided by Cheney Brothers.
A true highlight of the menu is our signature BBQ sauce, lovingly crafted from the original recipe by former Mayor Frank Veltri—a cherished tradition passed down through generations of firefighters.
Don’t miss the delicious smoked corn on the cob, prepared by our Rescue Division with a variety of fun and flavorful toppings!
In recent years, our firefighters have brought their passion for BBQ to competitive events, refining their craft and elevating the flavors you love. This year promises the best-tasting BBQ yet!
The fun goes beyond the food. The 2025 event will feature:
- Live music by the Shane Duncan Band – bringing a country flair to our family-friendly festival
- Bounce houses for kids of all ages
- Petting zoo for up-close animal encounters
- Live fire demonstrations showcasing the skills and training of our brave volunteer firefighters
- Vendor village spotlighting local businesses and artisans
This event is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of community spirit, public service, and hometown pride.
Admission is free. Food and drinks available for purchase. All proceeds support the Plantation Volunteer Fire Association and its mission.
