exploring flax as a fibre and the sustainable making of linen. Led by artist Shane
Waltener, this participatory session introduces the processes of growing and
harvesting flax, and demonstrates how it is processed, including making cordage
and spinning linen thread. The workshop offers an engaging introduction to
sustainable textile practices through hands-on learning.
This workshop is part of the Creative Voices, Activist Voices: Sensory Stories of
Creative Communities an exhibition presenting findings from a research project
funded by the Collaborate Fund (Centre for Cultural Value), and exhibition tour
