About the 7 Picos Piñata:
The original and traditional star-shaped piñata is known as the 7 Picos Piñata. Commonly made and used throughout Mexico and Central America for celebrations, its seven points symbolize the seven deadly sins: envy, sloth, gluttony, greed, lust, anger/wrath, and pride. Traditionally, these bright and beautiful piñatas were designed to tempt people, serving as a reminder of the moral challenges. (If you’d rather think about all the candy you’ll be stuffing into your piñata, that’s fine, too. We aren’t here to judge.)
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll not only learn the craft of creating these vibrant piñatas but also delve into the history and symbolism behind them. It's a perfect blend of creativity and education.
This workshop coincides with monca's Roots and Routes exhibition, a celebration of Latino, Chicano, Mexican, and Latin American art. After the workshop, take some time to explore the exhibition and immerse yourself in the diverse artistic expressions from these communities.
