With approximately 1/5th of the Pittsburgh metropolitan community claiming Irish heritage, the Steel City knows how to celebrate. Irish step dancers, marching bands, military members, community organizations, and even Punxsutawney Phil march down Grant Street every year on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. What began more than 150 years ago to honor the patron saint of Ireland has evolved into a city-wide celebration.
