Featuring pumpkins so big you need a forklift to pick them. The Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival is the City of Pittsburgh's signature Fall event. It showcases literally tons of giant pumpkins--weighing anywhere from 1000 to over 2700 pounds--in an all FREE 2-day family fun extravaganza. Activities include: horse drawn carriage rides glass blowing a 5K run/walk a giant pumpkin pull contest world-renown pumpkin carvers in a two-day sculpting challenge pie-eating contests costumed character stations a pumpkin sling shot activity kids zone...and the greatest splash on earth: the festival's Punk'in Dunk'in Drop where a 1-ton pumpkin free-falls from a crane 200 feet down into a pool of water. Drops happen twice a day both days. The event also features nearly 100 food craft and service vendors for one gigantic pumpkin patch of wares. The event has become one of the premier giant pumpkin sites world-wide.
