Downtown Pittsburgh Light-Up Night is an annual event that takes place in November in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It's the much-anticipated return of its 63rd-anniversary celebration with live entertainment holiday shopping family fun and so much more!
Light Up Night is the day when all the Christmas lights are turned on in the city. During the festivities almost all skyscrapers and stadiums are lit up. There are even fireworks shows that light up the skyline throughout the evening.
When the very first Light Up Night was held in Downtown Pittsburgh on November 21 1960 it was promoted as a “spectacular preview of Christmas.” Local newspapers reported that Downtown would be lit as “brightly as any Christmas tree.” So The tradition of Light Up Night in Pittsburgh—which has served as the official kickoff to the holiday season for six decades and counting.
