About this Event
The University of Pittsburgh's Student Chapter for the American Society of Civil Engineers will be hosting an in-person event for Students and their Parents to participate in a day of presentations and activities led by current students in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the Pitt Swanson School of Engineering. Presentations cover such topics as the various fields and curricula in Civil Engineering, general developments in Engineering Sustainability, as well as some demonstrations for our yearly Region II Symposium competitions, where CivE Students compete in events from Land Surveying to building Concrete Canoes! Students will be able to participate in safe, hands-on activities as we explain the kinds of skills used in Competition and in our Civil Engineering careers.
Students and Parents are required to sign up using the Student's name, and registration is on a first come, first serve basis. (Previous years see an attendance of about 100, with our last event hosting 40 coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.) ONLY STUDENTS AND PARENTS REGISTERED FOR THE EVENT WILL BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING. Chaperones welcome. Please note that visitors must check in at the Benedum Lawn/Patio as the day begins.
All Activities will be supervised by University students, faculty, and other approved supervisors as per Policy and Regulation set forth by University of Pittsburgh and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
