About this Event
Equipment: Eye and ear protection and a billed cap will be required; handgun holster; handgun with pistol mounted optic; minimum of three (3) handgun magazines; minimum of 700 rounds of handgun ammunition; body armor is recommended.
Making the transition to pistol mounted optics is a decision that requires a significant amount of information to ensure the best decisions are made for your officers and department. In addition to equipment decisions, policy issues, and maintenance issues, firearms instructors must develop training specific to red dot optics to ensure officers can comfortably, confidently, and competently deploy this system to defend their lives and the lives of others. Once these skills are developed, instructors must challenge all their student’s skill levels to achieve a balance between speed and accuracy.
The Pistol Mounted Optics Instructor Course provides firearm instructors with information regarding policy, equipment, and techniques to instruct officers in the fundamentals of marksmanship, drills to develop combative speed and accuracy in their students, concepts and techniques to develop their own drills to improve student performance, information on how adult learning affects shooter performance, and tips and techniques to help coach, mentor, teach, and instruct shooters.
