About this Event
Professor Dame Hilda Lloyd was a true pioneer in her work. Born in Birmingham and studying medicine at the University, she established obstetrical ‘Flying Squads’ in the city, which provided emergency care to underserved communities, saving countless lives. In 1949 she became the first woman president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and she was a strong proponent of women joining the medical profession.
Join Professor Jonathan Reinarz, Professor of the History of Medicine, as he explores Dame Hilda Lloyd’s remarkable life and work, highlighting Birmingham's pivotal role in her achievements.
