Microcheating, Jealousy and Partner Surveillance in Romantic Relationships – An Evolutionary Psychology Perspective
Dr Martin Graff (School of Psychology, South Wales University)
Social media and online communication now provide our romantic partners with the means to check our whereabouts and activities more easily than ever. Are people now finding more devious ways to engage in Microcheating? Are we becoming smarter at electronic surveillance? Are romantic partners becoming more suspicious and jealous as a consequence? Can evolutionary psychology provide some answers to these questions?
Democracy, Distrust, and the Politics of Conspiracy Theories
Dr Adam John Koper (Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD), School of Social Science, Cardiff University)
Distrust is a vital part of any democracy, as voters need to question and scrutinise their representatives. But what happens when distrust in politics goes too far? This talk explores early conspiracy theories about the Kennedy assassination to better understand how distrust help and hinder democratic politics.
