THE ARTISTS
LOVE THRILLS is an all-queer synth-rock outfit from Gubbi Gubbi and Jinibara lands in Queensland, led by Jodes Elfski and Nyssa Ray. Blending punchy punk undercurrents with euphoric synths, their high-energy live shows turn songs about love, hookups, breakups and makeups into full-blown anthems. Recent singles include the fast-paced punk catharsis DONE, radio-creeping MAGIC, and the sex- and body-positive anthem SEXY MOTHAFUCKA, which went viral in the US. The band have sold out shows across SEQ, appearing at venues and festivals including SolBar, Vinnies Dive Bar, Rangebow Festival and Real Electric Pussy Festival.
Briony Alice is a soulful powerhouse whose music drifts between bohemian enchantment and gritty rock-and-roll. With a voice that balances velvet and gravel, her songs are shaped by a life of travel and an untameable spirit. As one half of acclaimed duo Salt and Steel, she has shared stages with Wolfmother, Sarah McLeod and Phil Jamieson. Now stepping into her solo work, Briony delivers performances that feel road-worn, raw and spellbinding.
Kat Flowers is a Meanjin (Brisbane) folk artist devoted to heartfelt, story-driven songwriting. Drawing inspiration from Missy Higgins, Florist and The Milk Carton Kids, her gentle vocals and melodic guitar lines cradle deeply personal stories. Having opened for artists including Winterbourne, Tom Snowdon and Rowena Wise, Kat is known for creating genuine connections with her audience. Balancing vulnerability with warmth and humour, her songs feel like the audio equivalent of touching grass.
VIOLET SALT is sweet, a little salty, and deeply moody — crafting nostalgic, soul-tinged indie-pop with a retro glow. The alter-ego of queer Brisbane/Meanjin artist Kristy, the project emerged in 2024 with a run of singles that received national community radio support, including airplay on 4ZZZ, SYN FM and JOY FM. Beneath the shimmering hooks sit sharp lyricism and wry observations that land with emotional punch. Currently working toward an EP due mid-2026, VIOLET SALT continues to draw from vintage pop, retro soul, indie sleaze and the strong women of 70s–80s music.
