Pinfeather in Andledon DEN ANDEL – Aanstaande zaterdagavond (20 april) vindt het optreden plaats van de Britse singer songwriter Jeremey Johnson en de in Friesland woonachtige zanger en gitarist Marije de Vries. Onder de naam Pinfeather brengen zij dromerige authentieke songs met nu en dan een stevig randje.
Sinds Johnson in 2016 in de stad Groningen deelnam aan akoestische sessies, kreeg hij de smaak te pakken en reist hij met zijn gitaar en surfboard de hele wereld over om zijn avonturen om te zetten in muziek. In 2018 heeft hij de stap naar beroepsmuzikant gemaakt, en is in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, naast de regulier optredens, te horen op de BBC en tijdens vele festivals. Americana UK, promotor van Americana muziek in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, omschrijft de muziek van Jeremy Johnson als volgt: “Johnson has a superb voice which really shines through following in the storytelling footsteps of the likes of Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Ralph McTell and Clifford T Ward”
Marije de Vries is een zeer verdienstige singer songwriter uit Friesland. Ze was deelnemer van het `Fryskjong festivalliet` en organisator van ondermeer Vertellis. Samen met Jeremy Johnson vormt zij Pinfeather.
Fresh on the Net omschrijft de muziek van het duo als ‘ een stukje hemel op aarde’. In de lockdownperiode werd samen, vanuit meerdere landen, aan songs geschreven en opgenomen. Er is nog niet veel materiaal van het duo online. Om toch een indruk te geven kan men denken aan de bands ‘Iron and Wine’, ‘The Staves’ en ‘Bon Iver’. Met hun eigen dromerige geluid, wordt Pinfeather een rustgevende en welkome toevoeging aan de Europese alt- en hedendaagse folkscene.
Het optreden van Pinfeather start zaterdagavond 20 april om 20.30 uur (20.00 uur deur open) op het cultuurerf Andledon. Het optreden is niet gratis en reserveren is niet nodig.
Critically acclaimed contemporary folk trio Pinfeather will be performing live at Andledon, Den Andel (Netherlands) on Saturday 20th April 2024.
Pinfeather will be touring their 2023 releases and songs set for 2024.

Even before Pinfeather had a name, Fresh on The Net described the trio’s sound as ‘A little slice of heaven’. The earliest murmurs of Pinfeather stretch back to the city of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands, where the three members, Netherlands natives Marije De Vries, Masha Schenkel and the British Jeremy Johnson were to meet through the flourishing yet underground Dutch music scene.
Although individually recognised singer-songwriters in their own right, the three Pinfeather members had been working together for several years before coming together during 2020 to explore co-writing. This co-writing project would evolve into Pinfeather and lead to their first dedicated release in 2022.
Born from the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic as a calming antidote to the confusion and uncertainty, Pinfeather is made all the more remarkable considering the three songwriter’s geographical separation. Split between Canada, the Netherlands and the UK, the project is a modern marvel of intercontinental collaboration.
With echoes of Iron and Wine, The Staves and Bon Iver, but with a sonorous dream-like quality of their own making, Pinfeather is set to be a soothing and welcome addition to the European alt and contemporary folk scene.
