Join Pine Belt PRAM for our June Membership Meeting on Tuesday, June 18 from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. at our brand-new meeting location in the back meeting room at Pyro’s Fire Fresh Pizza in The District at Midtown in Hattiesburg, Mississippi!
Malary White is our featured speaker, and she’ll be presenting “Lessons in Crisis Communications from the State’s Crisis Communicator.”
Malary serves as the Chief Communications Officer for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, where she has led communication for the State Emergency Operations Center through a dozen federally declared disasters. As the CCO, Malary expanded the agency's external affairs team to include a graphic designer and videographer. External affairs is responsible for messaging before, during and after natural or man-made disasters that occur within the state.
Malary oversees all social media sites, the agency website, MEMA's mobile app, the MEMA Minute newsletter, as well as all media inquiries and press releases. During an emergency, she is the Lead Public Information Officer managing the Joint Information Center including coordinating all state agency public information officers to ensure one clear message is disseminated during a disaster. The goal of external affairs is to prepare and communicate with all Mississippians by giving them the right information, at the right time to make the right decisions. Under her leadership, external affairs has published five new preparedness books targeting seniors, children and the media.
Malary has over 10 years of experience in public communications. Before serving the state, she was a television news anchor and reporter at WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to that, she worked at WJTV Channel 12 in Jackson, Mississippi. She earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi.
We’re so excited to hear from Malary, and hope that you will join us!

A note from April Jordan, PRAM President:
Greetings! As summertime begins, Pine Belt PRAM is excited to announce a location change starting with our upcoming meeting on June 18. To best accommodate membership growth and support the financial health of the chapter, the board voted to move our monthly meeting to the private room in Pyro’s Pizza at Midtown. This centralized location with easy access allows for new benefits, including a discounted meeting fee and customized ordering from Pyro's diverse menu while still offering the excellent speakers and networking opportunities our chapter is built upon.

The fee for current Pine Belt PRAM members will decrease to $5 per meeting and guests to $20. These fees can be paid ahead via Square or in person. Save time by ordering your lunch via the Pyro’s app prior to the meeting or at your table. You can also go through the line when you arrive.
On behalf of the Pine Belt PRAM Board, we hope you find this location change helpful in your commute and your budget, and we encourage you to join us for a meeting soon. Networking will continue to take place at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting at 12 p.m. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
