Well they say you wait for quality, and come the beginning of December 2025, we will have waited a whole 6 months since our very own adopted Gibraltarian graced our shores. We are super pleased to announce our Festive Jamboree at one of our favourite haunts for PinDrop, The Nursery Inn, with Gabriel accompanied by the fabulous Quivering Poets, plus some of the great and good from our local scene in support.About Gabriel Moreno & The Quivering Poets
For those unfamiliar with this captivating performer, Gabriel Moreno is a Gibraltarian poet and singer songwriter, and is the current Cultural Ambassador of Gibraltar. With a rich background that includes periods living in Barcelona, New York and across South America, he creates a live experience that has been described as "Taberna Folk" - at once both energetic and intimate, anarchic and absorbing.
Likened to poetical singers Nick Cave, Bill Callahan and Leonard Cohen, he has released four albums to date, with his music treading "a path between Folk, Latin and cabaret torch song" - an oddly effective mix that showcases his distinctive voice. His most recent album received rave press reviews and was championed by BBC Radio 6 Music, with Cerys Matthews describing him as "An Offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond. I love it!"
The Morning Star gave a glowing five-star review, noting: "Moreno's warm voice, embroidered by Ned Cartwright's deft piano accompaniment, engrosses and soothes. Meditative one moment and despairing the next, these unhurried songs offer spiritual succour and solidarity, a balm for our trying times".
Gabriel has been busy touring across the country with his band The Quivering Poets, performing on the main stage of The Great British Folk Festival, ELY Folk Festival, Rochester Folk Festival, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Wilderness Festival and many others.
The last three Gab shows in Hartlepool sold out, so I would be sharp bagging your tickets.
