VOTED KW’S FAVOURITE LOCAL EVENT BY THE READERS OF THE WATERLOO CHRONICLE!
This edition of Pinch Cabaret will be guest-hosted by comedian Kez Vicario-Robinson . Get ready for a diverse bill that will surprise and delight audiences while bringing together disparate artistic communities!
Featuring:
- Ciarán Myers started working in the regional Ontario performing arts world as a child and, it would seem, he still hasn't grown up. This is Ciarán's third or fifth time performing at Pinch and, my golly, is he is grateful. Ciarán writes, directs, produces, teaches, broods longingly, and stacks the chairs. Thinking long and hard about being part of the Irish diaspora in Canada, Ciarán has ten minutes to determine what exactly a nationality is.
- Jas Rajaballey is a multidisciplinary theatre artist and fourth-year UWaterloo student. Their disciplines range from carpentry, lighting, acting, and more. To see her next work, check out the Port Stanley festival theatre's summer season where they'll be returning as assistant carpenter. For Pinch they’ll be sharing snippets of their thoughts on love, pain, doubt and healing through somewhat of a cross between poetry and monologues.
- Jacky Levare is a songwriter/producer based in the Kitchener/ Waterloo area who loves turning life's raw stories into pop songs and visuals with friends. At Pinch he’ll show off little brother energy wearing his heart on his sleeve through a guitar and sad boy pop songs.
- Çoirée (pronounced soirée) is a genre-blending DJ who spent 6 years playing in the Tokyo and Toronto club scenes. He seeks out new and eclectic sounds that make you want to shake your rump or ask, “What is this?” (in a good way). He will be mashing up different genres including vogue, footwork, throwbacks, hip hop and house.
-Ukrainian dance collective OBYEDNANI (UNITED) - was created 1 year ago in Waterloo by Ukrainian newcomers. Their performances reflect Ukrainian folk-modern dances and stories.
-Host Kez Vicario-Robinson is a comedy performer from Kitchener. They create art centered around queer and trans narratives, and have performed all across Southwestern Ontario.
