Join us on October 11 to tour the new 37,000 SF Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner (PCOME), the newest addition to the growing Pima County Kino Campus. The PCOME facility represents an opportunity to honor its core functions and civic identity as both a trusted criminal justice asset and a critical public health service. Designed by Smithgroup and built by Kitchell.
The facility is civic in nature; conveying to Pima County residents what an asset PCOME is to their community. Forensic planning excellence in facilities of this type are inherently based around the staff, visitor, funeral home, and law enforcement flows. The design is focused on clarity of both vehicular and pedestrian circulation on the site and within the building to create a safe and efficient environment. Connections between the interior and exterior spaces of the building provide the different users with appropriate secure access and respectful experience within the building. The main entry radiates a strong community presence for visitors with an appropriate reverence for grieving families. Transparency throughout conveys a sense of accountability and safety while visual and acoustical screening protects the sensitive work that takes place within the building.
This tour will be eligible for 1.0 HSW LU from AIA.
