About this Event

Pilipino Cultural Night is an annual, nation-wide event that allows Filipinx-American/Filipino university clubs to showcase Filipino culture through traditional dances, student written skits and performances, and authentic Filipino food! This tradition has been around since the 80's and helps strengthen and unite our family here at Isang Bansa.

PCN consists of a variety of performative dances. Carinosa, a graceful, courting dance performed by our senior members, Banga, a showcase of women’s strength and agility as they dance while carrying clay pots of water, Idaw, a war dance that depicts the hunting ritual performed before a tribal war, Gaway-Gaway, a movement in celebration of harvest, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, a graceful oil lamp dance, Singkil, an earthquake dance acting out the legend of “Darangan” of the Morano or “People of the Lake”using delicate fans, IBeatz, a student led and choreographed dance group that celebrates the contemporary culture of Filipinos and Fil-Ams, Bangko, a skillful bench-dance of trust and overcoming adversity, and Tinikling, a world renowned bamboo dance in which performers must quickly maneuver their feet between two large bamboo sticks.

Please join us in celebrating a night of food, entertainment and family! We are proud to share our culture and traditions with you all.
