About this Event
This course covers usage of TASER Civilian Series devices, as well as the X1 Professional Series Device. Students will learn important considerations for use of TASER devices along with other Conducted Electrical Weapons. Students will also learn techniques for employing OC chemical deterrents as well as handcuffs in an appropriate manner consistent with current laws relating to use of force. The course requires a written examination for successful completion.
Students arrive with the following equipment:
- Pants and long, or short sleeve shirts
- Close-toed shoes or boots
- Clear/transparent eye protection
- Note-taking equipment
- Food/Water/Snacks
Students will be provided:
- (1) set of stainless steel handcuffs
- (1) 3oz can of Byrna Technologies Bad Guy Repellent OC Spray
- (2) TASER cartridges for use during practical application
Students are highly recommended to bring their lunch with them as scheduling only allows for a thirty-minute lunch break.
AXON TASER DOES NOT PERMIT FOR VOLUNTARY EXPOSURES, NOR WILL THERE BE VOLUNTARY EXPOSURES TO TASER DEVICES OR OTHER CEW'S FOR COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE.
Along with the TASER Self-Defense material, this course will also include material covering the recommended use and application of chemical deterrents and restraint techniques specifically for licensed Private Security Officers. Officers wanting to participate in a voluntary exposure of OC spray will have the option to do so upon request.
