Pigskins & Picasso is GAC’s Visual Art & Design pre-game party! Participants will enjoy art classes and art-inspired street fair activities as well as dinner before the Varsity Football Game at 7:30 PM. Your ticket includes an art class of your choice (limited availability), street fair activities, dinner and a ticket to the Football game. You must have an event bracelet (received at registration) to access the street fair activities and dinner. You must have a class-specific nametag (received at registration) to access your chosen art class.
Street Fair Activities are available from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on the grounds of the Visual Art & Design Center, and include: a chalkboard graffiti wall, pennant decorating, Model Magic sculpture making, jewelry making, free standing easels for painting, photo stand-ins, and face painting*, balloon art*, caricature art*, and airbrush tattoos art*.
*Please note that you will need to sign up at the event for specific slots for several activities. There are limited slots available.
Art classes for all ages are offered from 4:00-7:00 PM inside the Visual Art & Design Center classrooms. The art class schedule varies depending on project complexity, and offers opportunities for the entire family. Parents need to pick up their children at the end of the class so the instructors can prepare for the next class. When selecting tickets, please make note of the specific time for your chosen art class. You will receive a nametag specific to your chosen class, and please be on time as you may not be able to join once the class has started.
Art Class Options:
Kindergarten (3-6-year-olds)
-Two classes offered at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (45-minute class)
-Classes held in AD 102
-Picasso Self Portrait Collage: Picasso was the king of self portraits, creating 30 in his lifetime. Kindergarten will join him in his pursuit of truth through self-portraiture in this class by creating their very own Self Portrait Collage!
Elementary (7-11-year-olds)
-Two classes offered at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (45-minute class)
-Classes held in AD 202 (4:00 p.m.) and AD 102 (6:00 p.m.)
-One Line Family Masterpiece: This class requires at least two members of a family to create a continuous line drawing… one in which a single, unbroken line is used to develop the image. Imagine taking a line for a walk on the page and creating a collaborative masterpiece! *Please register at least one child and one adult per family for this class.
Middle School (11-14-year-olds)
-Two classes offered at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (45-minute class)
-Classes held in AD 202
-Let’s Par-Tea: It's Tea Towel Time! The return of a favorite with a twist...and we're not talkin' lemon! This Instructor led class in print making allows each artist to be creative with color and texture. Artists will create a print onto tea towels from the leaves they have painted. Perfect for both the new artist and one that has been creating for a long time.
High School/Adult (15+ year-olds)
-Two classes offered at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (60-minute class)
-Classes held in AD 201
-Watercolor Weaving Community Painting: Learn how to paint a watercolor painting and as a class! We will then cut and weave our paintings together as a community. Each participant will walk away with a piece of the collaborative woven abstract watercolor painting.

-Two classes offered at 4:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. (75-minute class)
-Classes held in AD101
-Pumpkin Carving: Learn how to carve a pumpkin, not in the traditional triangle eyes way, but in a way that will transform your pumpkin into something like a Picasso…a work of art!
Dinner Menu: Will be served from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
-North Carolina style pulled pork smoked low and slow over real wood for 12+ hours
-Sauces include: Traditional NC Vinegar, Honey Sweet (sweet and savory), Root Beer (sweet and tangy), and Texas Spicy (bold and spicy)

-Southern Potato Salad
