Join Judd Foundation for a conversation with Flavin Judd, Artistic Director of Judd Foundation; Benjamin Paulin, Co-Founder of Paulin, Paulin, Paulin; and Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, Curator of Contemporary Design and Hintz Secretarial Scholar at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. They will discuss the work of Pierre Paulin (1927–2009), a pioneering furniture and interior designer known for his visionary use of modern materials and production techniques. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Pierre Paulin: Action House, currently on view at 101 Spring Street.
Program attendees are invited to visit special public exhibition hours on Monday, December 2 from 5:00–6:00pm and 7:00-8:00pm.
This event is free and open to the public though advance registration is encouraged. Please note priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, though advance registration does not guarantee admission once the event reaches capacity.
Flavin Judd is Artistic Director of Judd Foundation. He has designed architectural spaces in the United States and Europe. He is co-designer and co-editor of the recent publications Donald Judd Writings (2016), Donald Judd Interviews (2019), and Donald Judd Spaces (2020, 2023); and co-designer of Donald Judd: Artwork 1980 (2021), Donald Judd: Artworks 1970–1994 (2022), and Donald Judd Furniture (2024). In his role as Artistic Director, he curates art installations and oversees aesthetics for the Foundation including exhibitions at Gagosian in New York and Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, Salzburg, and Seoul.
Benjamin Paulin is Co-Founder of Paulin, Paulin, Paulin. Paulin, Paulin, Paulin is a family business that circulates, develops and preserves the works of Pierre Paulin. It aims to offer a heightened panorama of the designer's oeuvre to bring to light the amazing modernity of a creator who was constantly researching new concepts and ideas.
Alexandra Cunningham Cameron is Curator of Contemporary Design and Hintz Secretarial Scholar at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Her career has spanned criticism, publishing, public art and consulting across sectors, and she has served as editor in chief of independent arts journal The Miami Rail and creative director of the Design Miami/ fairs. Cameron has organized a broad range of programs including international events, commissions and award-winning exhibitions with artists, designers and architects such as Willi Smith, Duro Olowu, SITE, Terrol Dew Johnson, Aranda\Lasch, Yona Friedman, Dozie Kanu, Philippe Malouin, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and Jamilah Sabur. Her work has appeared in publications such as the New York Times, Financial Times and PIN-UP in addition to catalogues, journals, and monographs.
