Join FW-NPAT for a morning exploration of the Piedmont Ridge and Scyene Overlook areas of Dallas County. Located in the Blackland Prairie region of North Texas on the Austin Chalk, this habitat is diverse with some unique species for North Texas.
Jeff Quayle, a field trip leader for the Fort Worth chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas (FW-NPAT) will lead the tour and BioBlitz to help document the biodiversity at the park.
We will have Canaan Sutton, past president of the Blackland Prairie chapter of NPAT and Field Ecologist with NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network) join us as a co-leader.
Participants will be focusing on collecting valuable data for natural resource management using iNaturalist observations. Observation will be automatically downloaded to the Naturalist project “Piedmont Ridge & Scyene Overlook (White Rock Bluffs).”
This tour is offered by donations. The suggested donation amount is $5; but please donate any amount you believe this special tour is worth. Donations benefit the Native Prairies Association of Texas (conservation & land trust organization) and are non-refundable.
For any questions, contact Jeff Quayle at [email protected]
Contact him for a list of a few of the uncommon, rare, and unique species found here.
