Join us as we kick off our 79th season with Pictures at an Exhibition, a concert that celebrates the breathtaking connection between art and music. The concert begins with The Block by GRAMMY-nominated composer Carlos Simon, a vibrant work depicting six murals by Romare Bearden that portray the vitality of life on one block of Harlem. Next, Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler unfolds as a symphonic fresco inspired by Renaissance painter Matthias Grünewald and his Isenheim Altarpiece. The evening culminates with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, in Ravel’s dazzling orchestration—a journey through an art gallery brought vividly to life by the LSO.
Adding to the excitement, our 3rd Annual Season-Opening Silent Auction will be held throughout the weekend, and all audiences are invited to a post-concert celebration following each performance. From vivid portraits to timeless masterpieces, this program invites you to experience how music and art intertwine to tell powerful stories across centuries.
