About this Event

Do you hate throwing away food?

Are you looking for new cultural experiences?

Are you excited about trying new recipes?

Whilst masses of food are being thrown away every day there are plenty of techniques from different cultures that can teach us how to better manage ingredients in our kitchen.

We work with multi-cultural communities all over London to share this knowledge in the form of easy recipes that you can recreate at home.

In order to spread the tasty message like really good jam on toast, we gathered a group of women from ethnic-minority communities in London who are passionate about cooking and very knowledgeable about all kinds of preservation techniques.

Join us in a workshop hosted by women from multi-cultural communities to learn easy recipes that help convert household food waste into yummy goods (PICKLES, JAMS, AND CHUTNEYS!).

In the 3-hour long workshop, you will learn 3 unique preservation recipes, meet people from diverse cultural backgrounds, learn about their food heritage, and walk out with jars full of yummy preserves (perfect timing for that park picnic with friends!)

What happens in the workshop?

02 pm: Meeting at The Reach Community Hub + Check-in

02:15 pm: Our story + intro to our amazing facilitators + Hygiene essentials

02:45 pm: Let's preserve food together!

04:30 pm: Sharing and tasting

Please bring any old glass jars you may have at home, and we will fill them with yummy goodness together.
