Pickleball 301 - Doubles Strategy - A Class for 3.0-3.5 Players Seeking to Grow Their Doubles Game

Hey gang. Clinton Young here. I’m the new Head of Pickleball Events here at ATPC. I’m also a PPR Certified Pickleball Coach, Commentator for Pro Pickleball, and Founder of Pickleball 4 Life.

My Pickleball 301 class is designed for you if your goal is to become a great doubles player and partner.

IMPORTANT: Class Prerequisites

This class assumes that you know the basic rules and scoring of Pickleball and you are able to hit the ball over the net consistently (especially dinking:). If you don't fit that description, then please sign up for my Pickleball 101 "Intro to Pickleball” class first and then my Pickleball 201 “How to Hit the Pickleball more Effectively”.

What will I learn in this class?

In this Pickleball 301 class you will:

  • Play doubles games and have tons of fun
  • Deepen your awareness of basic doubles strategy and begin to see the game going on behind the game
  • Develop greater skill on dinking, third shot drops, and defending against bangers
  • Learn to “construct” points, meaning you deliberately cause your team to score a point based on where and how you hit the previous shot
  • Know the proper positioning of where you should be on the court in various scenarios
  • Walk away with drills to continue developing your skills and confidence

*(This is NOT a class for newbies. This is for 3.0 - 3.5 level players whose goal is to learn the strategies that will make them a great doubles player and partner.)

How do I register and reserve my spot for this class?

I purposely keep these classes very small (no more than 8 people) in order to provide you with the best experience possible. Feel free to invite 3 of your friends and I’ll teach the 4 of you together in class whenever possible. Whether you sign up by yourself or with a group of friends, this class is a great way to learn this amazing sport and have tons of fun in the process.

These classes will fill up fast so please get yourself registered today for an upcoming session.

Register today to reserve your spot for this new and exciting class!

*Minimum class size is 4 people.

What to bring?

  • Bring water, and sunscreen, hat or other protective clothing so you’re comfortable.
  • A good pair of court shoes are also very helpful if you have them but not required (tennis or Pickleball court shoes are best because they provide the right level of support). Don’t worry if you don’t have them to start.
  • Also, please bring your paddle if you have one. If you don’t yet have one, I have plenty of paddles for you to borrow for this session and can recommend a great paddle depending on your needs.

Can I retake this class?

Yes you may retake this class if you want to continue growing your confidence and skills before playing in a social setting. This class is my most repeated class because we learn a lot of tips and you only begin to develop muscle memory through repetition.

Should I take this class if I’ve already taken other classes?

YES! If you’re hungry to learn and want to continue growing your confidence and your skills, then you will always gain more from a new instructor.

What if I need to cancel my reservation?

This is a highly sought after class so please only cancel if you have an absolute emergency. There are no refunds for canceling this class. If you have an emergency, we will move your registration to a future date when possible. “Something exciting that comes up” is NOT an emergency. Death in the family, sick child etc, are emergencies. Please be in proactive communication with me for any emergencies.

About Clinton Young

As a Globally Renowned Courage Speaker and Founder of Pickleball 4 Life, my work centers around inspiring and enabling the courage and confidence to unlock your God given potential.

An experience of failure in 2008 shattered my confidence but awakened my soul. It set me on a spiritual path that led me to my purpose of “Re-Igniting the Human Spirit”.

I’ve been fortunate enough to speak recently to over 50,000 people across North America and Europe, and was recognized by Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global as a “Top 12 Speaker to Inspire You”.

In 2020, I discovered Pickleball and was hooked; not only for the fun of it, but also because it shattered a limiting belief I held for 20 years that I could ever be competitive again in sports after several knee surgeries earlier in life.

With a renewed sense of confidence, I started entering tournaments, became a PPR certified Pickleball Coach, and began teaching this great sport because of its ability to inspire life and improve one's self esteem.

On a mission to uplift humanity, I’m now traveling the US in my RV with my wife, leading Pickleball inspired events for corporations, schools, and charities to inspire mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being in our communities.

I believe that Pickleball is more than just a sport. It's a catalyst for positive change!
