Join us for an exciting 3-day piano festival featuring GCSC students and guest artist Dr. Jeremiah Padilla!
GCSC Piano Studio Recital – Thursday, February 19th at 7:30 pm
Come hear GCSC piano students perform in a studio recital celebrating the artistry of local piano students. Pre-college, college, and adult students of Dr. Steven DiBlasi perform solo, duet, and ensemble pieces on the Amelia Center’s Mainstage. Recital is free to attend and open to the general public.
Guest Artist Recital – Dr. Jeremiah Padilla – Friday, February 20th at 7:30 pm
GCSC is delighted to host Dr. Jeremiah Padilla, Collaborative Pianist and Special Lecturer at Coker University in Hartsville, SC, for a diverse musical evening of piano solos including repertoire by Mozart, Schumann, Gershwin, and more. Dr. Padilla has a specialty in the lieder transcriptions of Franz Liszt and Leopold Godowsky as well as a penchant for Filipino piano music. Recital will take place on the Amelia Center Mainstage and is free to attend.
Masterclass with Dr. Jeremiah Padilla and Dr. Steven DiBlasi – Saturday, February 21st at 9 am
Local students perform prepared solos and receive feedback and advice from this year’s Piano Festival Guest Artist, Dr. Jeremiah Padilla, and GCSC faculty, Dr. Steven DiBlasi. Students interested in participating can reach out to Dr. DiBlasi via email ([email protected]). Masterclass will take place in the Amelia Center’s Music Wing (AC 133) and is free and open to the public.
Teacher’s Clinic – Artistry of Practice: Cultivating Personal Musicianship – Saturday, February 21st at 1 pm
Piano Festival Guest Artist, Dr. Jeremiah Padilla, and GCSC faculty, Dr. Steven DiBlasi, co-teach a clinic on practice strategies to help students discover, develop, and hone their unique, personal musicianship. Example scores will draw from standard beginner, intermediate, and early advanced piano repertoire with a particular focus on early to late intermediate. While the clinic is geared towards piano teachers, the event is free and open to the public. Clinic will take place in the Amelia Center’s Music Wing (AC 132).
