About this Event

The Series is thrilled to welcome Eddison Chen to make his Series debut and to close its seventh season. A sophomore at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, Eddison began playing piano at the age of four and has been studying with Sean Chen since 2020. He has since won numerous prizes in various national and international piano competitions.

Recent awards include 3rd prize in the 2025 Arthur Fraser Piano Competition, a part of the Southeastern Piano Festival; Bronze Medal Winner in the 2025 Palm Springs International Piano Competition (PSIPC), where he played Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 with the PSIPC Festival Orchestra under the direction of Peter Wilson; and 1st Prize in the 2024 Kansas City Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, where he made his debut with the Kansas City Symphony under Michael Stern performing Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor. He also won 3rd Prize at the 2022 Music Teachers National Association Junior Division and received an Honorable Mention in the 2022 Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition. Eddison was also the youngest competitor in the 11th National Chopin Competition and a quarter finalist in the 2023 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition.

Eddison has been featured on NPR's “From the Top” and Classical KC 91.9. He was a 2024 recipient of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship and was selected as a participant in the 2025 Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival. He is also a 3-year scholarship recipient of the Heartland Friends of Chamber Music Young Artist Project.

In addition to playing the piano, Eddison enjoys studying mathematics, chemistry, violin, and chess. He is a three-time AIME qualifier, a two-time National MATHCOUNTS finalist, a 2025 USNCO honoree, and he is a USCF-rated chess expert.

This season finale concert will feature a Series-commissioned premiere.
