About this Event
DESCRIPTION: Learn how to bulid a simple, dry-stack brick pizza oven, build a fire, make pizza dough, and cook your our pie. The resulting oven is compact, low-impact, easily constructed/deconstructed. The result is a perfect pizza oven for people who love wood-fired pie but live in temporary circumstances, have little outdoor space, or aren't willing to commit to the purchase or building an insulated pie oven.
Participants will work together to construct, build, bake, and compare basic construction & improvements through slight modifications. Activities will include forming the pizza oven, building/tending the fire, making pizza dough (wheat & non-wheat varieties), shapping & topping the pies, sliding pies into & out of the oven, cutting & eating!
Everyone will leave well fed with materials lists for basic and upgraded dry stack brick ovens. Recipes for regular and wheat-free pie crust will be shared along with topping suggestions.
MATERIALS FEES: $40/person
DONATIONS: Instruction (beyond materials) is offered on a free-will donation basis, but participants are kindly requested to consider a $20/adult ($10/child) minimum donation to support our mission, facilities, and care for the wilderness.
