DESCRIPTION
This fully-evaluated study day for clinical skills trainers, obstetricians and midwives will provide an engaging and interactive update on professional skills to facilitate physiological breech births, planned or unexpected, and how to teach these skills to others. The focus is on collaborative, multi-professional working to improve the safety of vaginal breech birth using the skills of all maternity care professionals.

The training meets the requirements for team members providing physiological breech birth care in the OptiBreech Trial.
Training will include:
* A research update
* Thorough theoretical and hands-on explanations of how breech babies journey through the maternal pelvis in a completely spontaneous birth (the breech mechanisms), enabling you to distinguish between normal progress and dystocia
* Hands-on simulation of complicated breech births and resolutions, using narratives and videos of real breech complications, to enable you to practice problem-solving in real time
* Models of breech care that work within modern maternity services
* One year's access to the online training course & video resources following the training
No refunds can be issued after 20 Dec, but you are welcome to send someone else in your place. Refunds will incur an administrative fee. Please bring your own lunch.

Kate Stringer, Consultant midwife at Surrey and Sussex NHS trust.
Kate is an experienced clinical educator and Lead Breech midwife and PI at her trust. She has successfully implemented a Breech clinic and developed Breech services, significantly enhancing choice and safety both in the UK and India. Kate provides training for the Breech Birth Network both in the UK, Europe and India and is supporting the ROCG Breech birth workshop in May 2023. Kate recently received a Chief midwifery officer silver award for her commitment to supporting informed choice, safety and developing midwifery teams.
Her breech interest started with her being born a breech baby herself! As her career has progressed she has often been in roles supporting women who wanted enhanced care and alternative birthing choices. She often met women who had had a breech baby who really wanted more help and support. This inspired her to learn more herself so she could support them more confidently. During her work in India she met Shawn and during this time she was able to gain further experience in supporting more vaginal breech births where there was often limited other opinions.
In her spare time she is an avid football fan and is lucky enough to hold a season ticket at Brighton and Hove Albion which is the perfect place to enjoy and switch off from work!
