Physics of the Everyday – Flashing Lights in the Night SkyThursday 13th November, 7pm - 8.30pm
Green's Windmill and Science Centre
A short talk and workshop, followed by a networking opportunity.
This session will be led by physicist Dr Ed Breeds and explore the fundamental science behind fireworks, fluorescence, and glowing in the dark. As the nights get longer, what better way to enjoy some physics than with some bright flashes, neon lights, and perhaps a gin and tonic (for science)!
The Physics of the Everyday series aims to introduce the fundamental physics behind everyday things we take for granted in an accessible, fun, and interactive way. Each short talk will be accompanied by a demonstration and investigation, as well as an opportunity for conversation and discussion.
This event will make mention of recreational explosives and fireworks but will not directly involve audience contact with explosive materials.
This is a free event but booking in advance is recommended. Please book via the link provided.
