This workshop involves physical training and exploration, as well as the consistent creation of original work by students that demands investigation, self-discovery, and the development of awareness through movement. This course seeks to develop a disciplined and embodied actor.
This workshop will...
• Explore movement and space through the play of situations, shapes, characters, spatial relations, and dynamics through improvisation.
• Explore the performer's physicality, and step beyond the limits of text-based acting.
• Engage students in movement analysis and group work.
• Demonstrate the key aspects of kinesthetic energies explored in class through
the application of basic movement principles to dramatic work and improvisation.
• Demonstrate and articulate their understanding of movement analysis through in-class exercises and class discussions.

About Instructor:
Mirette Mechail is an Egyptian choreographer and dancer with a large portfolio of artistic practice.
In 2001, she founded the No Point Perspective physical theatre company, and since then the company has created several award-winning performances choreographed by Mechail. Several of the company’s productions were also performed on international stages.
Apart from her work with No Point Perspective, Mechail also provided choreography to numerous film, television, and theatrical productions. She also holds physical theatre workshops working with young artists, professionals, and amateurs.
In 2018, Mechail was awarded the “State Encouragement Award”, one of the most prestigious recognitions offered by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to the creative talents. It’s worth noting that Mechail is among the youngest recipients of this award.
