This workshop will reward you with quality photos you made yourself!
About this Event
Intermediate Level
Assuming it's diigital, your camera has three main controls:
- shutter-speed
- ISO
- aperture
We expect you to have a working knowledge of how those control affect an image, and how to adjust them on your camera.
Workshop Overview
The interaction between a model, a photographer and lighting becomes the story contained in a photograph. As photographers, lights are our paintbrushes. We choose their position, direction and character. In this workshop, you’ll come away with experience in several different lighting techniques and effects, with enough hands-on experience to begin to incorporate them in your own creative expression.
Workshop Details
This workshop will feature 4 eager and patient(!) models in 3 shooting spaces to join us to help you create your images.
We're providing lights (some constant lights and some flashes). You need to bring a camera (the brand doesn't matter, but it should have a standard hot-shoe to put a flash trigger on, and have manual controls), your own memory card, and at least one freshly charged battery.
Workshop Format
We'll start with a short educational session together, and then break out into rotating groups in the studio.
Black Rain Studios is our generous host for this event -- the studio has separate spaces that we'll be using to create different looks. Here's the current operating plan:
- 1 high-key area
- 1 low-key area
- 1 environmental, mixed lighting setup.
There is limited room for this workshop -- only 12 photographers (so book your spot quickly!), and you will be guided by photographers with decades of combined experience.
