About this Event
Tired of blurry, washed-out, or grainy photos of beautiful holiday lights? This two-hour workshop is designed to help beginner and intermediate photographers master the unique challenges of low-light photography and capture the magic of the holiday season.
In this class, we will demystify the core camera settings needed to take stunning Christmas light photos. We'll cover:
Shutter Speed: Learn how to create dazzling light trails and prevent camera shake for sharp, clear shots.
Aperture: Understand how to use a wide aperture to create beautiful, dreamy bokeh effects and separate your subject from the background.
ISO: Learn how to adjust your camera's sensitivity to light to minimize noise and preserve image quality.
The first hour will be a focused discussion on these low-light principles, and the second hour will be a hands-on, in-class practice session. We will have a decorated, indoor setup with various Christmas lights, providing you with an opportunity to apply your new skills and receive personalized feedback in a comfortable, controlled environment.
What to bring: Your camera (which must have a manual mode) and any lenses you have. Please note that cell phone cameras are not suitable for this class. A tripod is optional but highly recommended.
By the end of the workshop, you will be equipped with the skills and confidence to take professional-looking photos of Christmas lights that truly capture the festive spirit.
