Come together with other nature enthusiasts to be present in nature, hike, discover, photograph, inspire, and be inspired. We will spend time in the woods exploring and then share our images to gain feedback and a better understanding of our work and world.
This series is intended to not only inspire creativity and share knowledge but to also increase wellness, peace and connection, reduce stress, promote mindfulness, and improve our overall individual and collective health.
About your hosts:
John Carnes has been interacting with the fungal world for over 40 years, investigating its use as food, medicine, structural material, and art. He has cultivated many species of mushrooms and enjoys introducing others to the magic, mystery and beauty of the fungal world. John is a Citizen Scientist focused on Regenerative Agriculture, most recently using the microscope to identify fungi and other soil microbes in order to understand how restoring our soil to full function can heal the Earth - and that this shift will come as a result of engaging more and more regular folks in the research.
Kim Webb is a visual artist and educator working in photography, sculpture, and social practice. She has led photography classes with naturalists in the Wayne National Forest and at state parks as an instructor at Athens Photo Project where photography is a tool for self-expression, personal growth, and social change, supporting mental health. Kim has experienced profound positive mental, physical, and spiritual health shifts in her own life and with others - photographing in the woods. She seeks to continue doing the work - integrating nature, creativity, and wellness. Kim is immensely grateful for the gracious support of the Ohio Arts Council and the Greater Columbus Arts Council for supporting this project and her work.
Space is limited to 12 participants. The series is ongoing and those waitlisted will have early registration for the next session.
