About this Event
Learn the art of capturing the essence of the city, and finding the magic of a moment with Ettie Wahl of Youth in Focus. With an emphasis on spontaneity, composition, lighting, and color, teens have an opportunity to learn real world camera skills with a professional photographer. Youth may bring personal cameras they have, this can include phone cameras and we will have access to instant cameras as well.
We will begin our photowalk at Glazer's camera and walk through South Lake Union, taking photos and discussing the creative process. Once we have completed our walk, the group will reconvene at Glazer's to share their work and experience a creative sharing circle, focused on communication, artistic literacy, and self-reflection.
Age range for this event: 13 to 19 years old. Participants under 18 will need to have a waiver form filled out by a guardian before attending the event. Once the waiver is signed, the guardian is not required to attend the event, but is more than welcome to join. Waiver will be sent prior to the event
ABOUT YOUTH IN FOCUS
For 25 years, Youth in Focus has been creating a safe, inclusive community, teaching photography at no cost, and providing mentorship for South Seattle youth.

We are excited for our annual PhotoFest full of presentations, workshops, and demonstrations from some of the most talented creative artists in their field, all FREE of charge.
Now in its 14th year, PhotoFest continues to exceed our wildest expectations. The three-day event includes a broad spectrum of on-location shoots, studio settings, photowalks, lectures, and product demonstrations. It gives a larger purpose to reconnect not only to our art, but to each other. Image-making and visual storytelling capture moments that are fleeting, but the relationships we build along the way endure.
