About this Event

We’re pleased to announce that we have invited Tom Hicks aka Black Country Type to conduct a photowalk around Wednesbury town centre – followed by a talk about his work on 11 December, 10 to 12 midday.

The workshop is free but places are limited so please book.

Tom Hicks is an artist, writer and curator from Kingswinford and his Black Country Type is an ongoing photographic project. In this series of images, he applies his unique aesthetic to the region, focusing on words, typography, handmade lettering and signs. He also photographs ‘types’ of architectural features, objects and the post-industrial landscape of the area.

The walk will take place around the town centre and but may venture into some side streets. Tom will stay on the pavements where possible. Please bring a raincoat just incase the weather is not on our side. Meet outside Wednebsury Library to start at 10am.

This workshop is part of the 'Wednesbury Through the Lens' project presented by Multistory and TekkinPix for the Wednesbury High Street Heritage Action Zone Cultural Programme. This is funded by Sandwell Council and Historic England and is being delivered by Multistory.

After the workshop why not enter the 'Wednesbury Through the Lens' photography competition? It invites you to submit photos taken of Wednesbury to be featured in an exhibition and there are prizes to be won!
