Panelists: Sukanya Baskar, Prateek Arora & Veranganakumari Solanki. Moderator: Tejal Pandey About the Discussion: This eminent panel shall explore the connections between pictorialism and contemporary photography, analyse current trends and trace the lineage from pictorialist principles to modern approaches. This panel promises to be particularly interesting as there`s surprisingly little information available on pictorialism in India. Furthermore, they will discuss emergent forms of the photograph, such as AI-generated photographic works and how these new forms draw from, and diverge from, the foundations laid by Pictorialism. Moderated by the Director of Dilip Piramal Art Gallery (NCPA) - Tejal Pandey, the panel shall feature: Sukanya, a research scholar on pictorialism and protégé of the curator of Alkazi Foundation, Rahaab Allana, recently curated a show featuring pictorialist photographer O.P. Sharma. Prateek Arora is a digital image maker represented by Photoink (a Delhi-based photography gallery) whose AI-generated photo series, Rocketganj, has been the topic of much discussion. Veerangana Solanki - a much respected Mumbai-based curator has worked closely with the DADA archive and brings a unique perspective on the subject. Admission on a first-come-first-served basis.
