About this Event
About this course
Join this introductory course, learning the creative and enjoyable process of photo screen printing.
This is aimed at beginners who would like to try out this process, as well as those who are refreshing their skills. It is perfect for printmakers who would like to become a member of Carousel Print Studio and use the screen printing facilities.
You will be taken step by step through coating a screen, exposing a single layer image with the exposure unit, developing it in the washout room and then printing the image onto a tote bag (provided). You may also bring your own tshirt or fabric item to print onto. Please note items must lie completely flat and 100% cotton or linen.
This course will also cover how to fix your design making it durable and washable.
What will I need to bring?
If you would like to print your own design in this session, please book onto the course. Then send an A4, high quality image (300dpi) in Greyscale to [email protected] and we will print the positive before the session.
High contrast images with thick lines work best. Students without artwork will be provided with a print negative.
All other materials and equipment will be provided.
You may wish to bring a packed lunch and water bottle.

About the Tutor
This course is led by Emily Kilham-Heeks, a graduate from Leeds Arts University specialising in textiles design including screen printing.
Emily loves to experiment with process, scale, colour and composition through collage, to create expressive visuals for textiles. Emily’s practice utilises both hand and digital processes; creating visuals through gestural drawings, mono-printing, and experimentation of various media, digitally manipulated to create playful designs and textured screen prints.
Emily will guide you through this course and assist you with learning more about the screen printing process.
