Explore the luminous, versatile and limitless possibilities of encaustic in combination with photography and mixed media.The workshop is a basic course covering mixed media collage using your own precious photo printed on handmade paper, applying melted beeswax and resin, and exploring techniques in colour and texture.
We will work with collage, image transfer, embedded objects, stencils and paint in a layered approach to create your unique piece of art. Multiple papers and medias will be utilized. A short photo editing component will also be demonstrated.
You will learn the process from beginning to end. From choosing and printing your favourite photo on a specific paper, embedding it, enhancing it with multiple medias, and finishing it in encaustic beeswax paints.
Each participant will email a chosen photo to Karen Brown to be printed prior to the workshop.
Cost: $250 + $50 material fee - Preregistration Required.
