In the summer of 2024, the Champaign County Forest Preserves hosted a photo contest to highlight the natural beauty of the preserves. Participants submitted stunning images capturing landscapes, close-ups of plants, insects, birds, and wildlife, as well as breathtaking seasonal scenes and vibrant moments of outdoor recreation. A peer voting process selected the top 20 photographs, which were then shared on Facebook to determine the final 14 images featured in the 2025 Champaign County Forest Preserves calendar.
