A family friendly walking tour of the Carter Center property guided by Trees Atlanta.
About this Event

The area in and around the Carter Center property is full of Atlanta history and this tour will showcase the natural and historic surprises. Discover how trees and history coincide including General Sherman's "visit" during the Civil War's Battle of Atlanta and an elegant long-standing sawtooth oak. Learn about the Atlanta protest movement of the 1960s and '70s when "white flight" created a need for car transportation and the thousands of trees that paid the price. Observe trees planted by Trees Atlanta in the 1980s after the Carter Center was constructed. You will even discover some "urban archaeology" of a lost neighborhood! This tour is perfect for history and nature lovers.
